For Friends & Relatives
For parents who have lost children in multiple birth, support from friends and relatives is an essential part of being able to cope and heal, not only in the early days and months, but also over a long period of time–really, always. Our thanks to Amber Webb McIntyre for her article here below, based partly on her own experience. We have added an article with some comments on the “twin” aspects of the support that is needed from friends and relatives, because twins and multiples are so prevalent that it’s quite likely that bereaved parents will find themselves coping with living multiples among their family and friends. Also, you’re encouraged to read the article in our Grandparents section “Bereaved grandparents of multiples – what helps”, as many of the comments are relevant to other family and to friends too.
